Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn exiled from Soviet Union

On February 12, 1974, shortly after publication of The Gulag Archipelago in France, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn was arrested by the KGB. The next day he was stripped of Soviet citizenship and deported to West Germany.
