• 1866 – Carol I of Romania take the oath before Romanian Parliament

• 1877 – Romania declares itself independent from the Ottoman Empire following the Senate adoption of Mihail Kogălniceanu’s Declaration of Independence (9 May, 1877)

• 1881 – The coronation of Carol I and Elisabeth of Romania, having previously been Prince/Princess of Romania (1866-1881)
