January 10th Memoriam Spotlight: Francis X Bushman was the first „King Of The Movies”, proclaimed by the press for his wild popularity in Silent features, and the first example of how studios kept the private lives of stars quiet to keep that popularity high. Bushman claimed to have received thousands of marriage proposals but his adoring fan base dropped after it was revealed publicly in divorce proceedings that he was married multiple times and had five children. He donated the land where Graumans Chinese Theatre was built. The title „King Of The Movies” was later given to Clark Gable.
