Jean-Paul Dethorey (2 March 1935 – 2 May 1999, France) was a comics creator who began his career in “Amis-Coop”. He created ‘L’Inspecteur X’ and ‘Batistin et Big Boogie’ (with writer Frank Giroud) in 1964, both humorous features.

From the early 1980s, he also created real-world features, often crime dramas. He collaborated again with Giroud on ‘Louis la Guigne’, with Daniel Bardet on ‘Un Crime Ordinaire’, and with Le Tendre on ‘L’Oiseau Noir’.

Dethorey created his solo album “L’Exécution” in the Aire Libre series at Dupuis in 1996.
