All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players: they have their exits and their entrances; and one man in his time plays many parts, his acts being seven ages.

World Theatre Day

March 27

World Theatre Day is the creation of the International Theatre Institute (ITI). It was established in 1961. Various national and international theatre events are organized to mark this occasion. The World Theater Day is seen as an opportunity for people in the theater world to celebrate the power of performing arts to bring people together, to communicate better with the audience, and to increase understanding and peace among people. The events held on the World Theater Day play a role in bringing together national and regional theater groups as well as international functions.

Each year, a message is written by a theatre luminary. Past messages have been given by people like Laurence Oliver, John Malkovich, Pablo Neruda, Richard Burton, and Judi Dench.
