John Milius’ birthday

April 11th Birthday Spotlight: before the first scene is shot, there are „the words”, and for many of the best productions those words came from John Milius. „Dirty Harry” (1971), „The Life And Times Of Judge Roy Bean” and „Jeremiah Johnson” (1972), „Dillinger” (1973), „The Wind And The Lion” (1975), „Apocalypse Now” (1979), „Red Dawn” (1984), „Clear And Present Danger” (1994) and many others were word-sculpted and sometimes also directed by Milius who was Sergio Leone’s first choice to write the screenplay for „Once Upon A Time In The West” (1969) and was the inspiration for John Goodman’s character in „The Big Lebowski” (1998). „Go ahead, make my day”; yeah, Milius wrote that as well as most of the „Indianapolis story” part of „Jaws” (1975) – with some spot-on ad-libbing by Robert Shaw.
