Ion Besoiu was a Romanian actor of film, radio, theater and television. He graduated from the Academy of Drama and Music in Sibiu and he played on the stage of Theatre Radu Stanca in Sibiu and of Theater Lucia Sturza Bulandra in Bucharest, whose director was 12 years.
He appeared in some of the most important Romanian films from the Communist period: Furtuna, Neamul Şoimăreştilor, Haiducii, Răscoala, Mihai Viteazul, Ciprian Porumbescu, Păcală, Blestemul pământului, blestemul iubirii, Ultima noapte de dragoste, Lumini şi umbre, Ce neagra e mama, Toate pânzele sus!.
In 2001, it was declared an honorary citizen of the city of Sibiu and in 2002, received the Award of Excellence of Romanian Cinema.
