Stephen Hough este un pianist clasic, compozitor și scriitor britanic. A devenit cetățean australian în 2005 și are astfel dublă naționalitate. Stephen Hough este un adevărat renascentist – un concertist de prim rang, scriitor, compozitor și pictor. El a câștigat aprecieri la nivel mondial pentru interpretările sale remarcabile din repertoriul pentru pian.

În 1978, a fost finalist în competiția BBC Young Musicician of the Year și a câștigat secțiunea de pian. În 1982, a câștigat premiul ”Terence Judd” în Anglia. În 1983, a obținut premiul I la Concursul international de pian Naumburg din New York.

A apărut la festivaluri din întreaga lume, ca Verbier, Salzburg, La Roque d’Antheron, Edinburgh, Aldeburgh, the BBC Proms, Mostly Mozart (New York), Sapporo, Ravinia, Blossom, Tanglewood, Aspen, Hollywood Bowl și Saratoga.

Hough a realizat peste 50 de CD-uri, inclusiv seria, foarte apreciată, a Concertelor pentru pian ale lui Rahmaninov, înregistrate live cu Orchestra Simfonică din Dallas sub conducerea lui Andrew Litton.

Stephen Hough is a British-born classical pianist, composer and writer. He became an Australian citizen in 2005 and thus has dual nationality. Stephen Hough is a true renaissance man – a leading concert pianist, writer, composer and painter. He has won global acclaim for his outstanding interpretations of the piano repertoire.

In 1978, he was a finalist in the BBC Young Musician of the Year Competition and won the piano section. In 1982, he won the Terence Judd Award in England. In 1983, he took first prize at the Naumburg International Piano Competition in New York.

As recitalist Hough has appeared on the major stages of the world including Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium, Chicago’s Symphony Hall, London’s Royal Festival Hal and the main stage of the Concertgebouw.
